Clifford Alva Cain “Cliff” was called home to be with the Lord Jesus Christ on June 7, 202l. He missed his 90th birthday and Father's Day by two weeks. He was born in Cincinnati, Ohio on June 20, 1931, to Clifford Cliver Cain and Hilda Roeper Cain. He leaves behind his wife, Patsy, and one son, Michael(Susie) Cain, two daughters, Kimberly Cain Holmstrom, (Jimmy Mann), and Teresa Cain Bailey(Stacey) , 7 grandchildren, and two brothers, Roy(Kay) and Bob(Pam) Cain and their children. His sister Dorthy Dunphy passed away in 2017.
He graduated from Graphic Arts high school in 1949, and enlisted in Naval Reserves in 1948, trained to put ships in MothBalls in Halifax, served in the Pentagon in the printing department, trained on a Destroyer Escort ship, served in a AirCraft Carrier, and was honorably discharged in 1956 as Storekeeper 3rd Class. In 1958 he decided to come to Englewood, Florida, having been laid off from Western Electric in Cincinnati. He assisted his parents in a cleaning business until moving to Sarasota, Florida, and then took over a printing business called Star Printing Company where in 1963 he met Patsy who was employed by First Baptist Church as secretary. They were married on March 13, 1964, at Bay Haven Baptist Church, and have lived as husband and wife for 57 years, in Sarasota, Florida.
Cliff was a humble, God fearing man who loved people and his children and wife were blessed by working as a family with him in the printing business in Sarasota. He and his wife attended two local churches over the years, and always taught various age groups, beginning with preschoolers and ending up at Sarasota Baptist Church with a Good News Class of those over 65. Many of those became Christians and are now teaching others. Cliff and his wife did many activities together: singing in the choir, teaching, dancing, bowling, and exercising. Cliff played golf for many years on Mondays, with the guys, many of which he witnessed to about our Lord Jesus Christ.
Cliff and his wife were blessed to transport many people to church over the years and hope to see them in heaven, which is our destiny as born again believers. Cliff was loved by his family and friends, and he will be sorely missed by them all.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, July 17, at 10:30 am, at Sarasota Baptist Church, 7091 Proctor Road, with a reception following.
