Andrea J. WhareYorkAndrea J. (Perry) Whare passed away on April 25, 2016 after a valiant 5 year long battle with Multiple Myeloma. She was born on December 9, 1932 in Harrisburg to John W. and Vera I. (Kammerer) Perry. Married for 50 years to the late Francis X. Whare Sr., she was a 1950 graduate of Dover Area High School, and spent most of her life as a resident of York. She was employed at the Strand Theater in the early 50's, where she met her husband, Francis; then later at Borg Warner Corporation, Shiny Bright, Danskin and Dyncorp.Andrea was a generous soul with all her life resources, never having met a person or animal in need she did not want to help. She had a particular soft spot for children's causes and charities. Surviving her are children, Francis Jr., Perry, Patrick, and Marianne Whare Meckley; her grandchildren, Zachary Meckley, Laura Wallmuth, Emily Whare, Molly Whare, and Chayton Whare; her great-grandchildren, who gave her much joy during her illness, Francis and Bart Meckley, Faith Whare, Kailyn Whare, and Cole Whare; finally, but certainly not least, her beloved hairball, Scruffie Dog; and her cat, Miss Kitty. Also very important to Andrea were her brothers and sisters, Wilda Laughman, Pedro Perry, David Perry, Mary Jones and her husband, Ron, Joy Kirkland and her husband, Rex, Renee Montag and her husband, Barry; and her many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, Andrea was predeceased by brothers, John Jr. and George Perry.Proving her generous spirit to the end, Andrea has donated her body for medical research. A formal memorial service will be held upon completion of her research and return of her ashes, so that she may be in attendance. Family will be notified when we know when this will be.
