Anna M. Putnam, age 93, of Corning went to be with her Lord on October 15, 2017 at Corning Hospital surrounded by her loving children. Anna was born on October 1, 1924 in the town of Big Flats, NY. The daughter of Frank Victor and Julia Mae (Inscho) Tapper. She was a life member of the Corning VFW Auxiliary, Corning American Legion Auxiliary, and the Corning Women of the Moose. Anna was an avid bowler and gained fame as being the first woman in the Southern Tier to have a perfect game of 300 for a 710 series. She held that title for 20 years. She was inducted in the Painted Post Sports Hall of Fame and the CWBA. She was a life member of the Corning Women's 600 Club. She retired from Corning, Inc. on February 1, 1984 with over 20 years of service. She is survived by four sons: Ronald (Sue) Pierce of Hornby, Donald (Sheri) Pierce of Corning, Douglas Pierce of Addison and Jeffery (Loretta) Pierce of Addison; four daughters: Lucinda (DuWayne) Boesiger of CA, Doreen (Randy) Evans of Corning, Denise (Harold) Cady of Caton and Lorie (Scott) Woodruff of Hornby; step-daughter, Julie (John) Owens of Millerton, PA; loving daughter-in-law, Leah Pierce and her sister, Gayle Harns who Anna referred to as a daughter; Awanda Hunt, or Corning NY; and several grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.She was predeceased by husbands: Robert H. Pierce, Donald. H. Putnam; three sons: Steve M. Pierce, Robert W. Pierce, David G. Pierce; brothers: Frank (Dorothy) Tapper, Harold (Clara) Berlue and Richard (Gladys) Berlue; sister, Doris Beauter; granddaughter, Stephanie Pierce; stepdaughter, Jennie Burley; daughter-in-law, Robin Pierce and brother-in-law, George Hunt.The Children would like to thank all the people who gave our Mom and us such comfort and care through this difficult time.Family and friends are invited to call on Thursday, October 19, 2017 from 3:00 – 5:00 pm at Carpenter's Funeral Home, 14 E.
