Anona Skinner SparksJuly 1, 1922 - December 21, 2015Anona Skinner Sparks of Bennington, Idaho, passed away peacefully at the Bear Lake Memorial Skilled Nursing Facility, December 21, 2015. She was 93 years old. Anona is survived by one sister, Virginia Wendall; her two daughters, Monte Ann Tarbet (Willy Tarbet-deceased), of Grace, Idaho and Paula Rae Pierce (Mike Pierce), of Bennington, Idaho; her nine grandchildren, thirty-one great-grandchildren and fifty-five great-great-grandchildren, (with two more on the way). She is preceded in death by her husband, Clarence Ivan Sparks of Bennington, Idaho; three sisters, three brothers and her parents, Frank Edwin Skinner and Paulina Derricott. Anona was born on July 1, 1922, in Sharon, Idaho. She attended school through the 8th grade and was awarded a certificate for perfect attendance. She married Clarence on September 25, 1940 in Liberty, Idaho. They lived together in Sharon, Montpelier, Pocatello and finally settling in Bennington. They were blessed with two children into their home and Anona set about teaching them important life skills.Anona was recognized for her hard work ethics, where she was often found cleaning and painting or wallpapering other's homes. She was a hard working individual, who spent many summers shuttling kids out to the raspberry patches in Garden City, Utah, crocheting or making quilts. One of her quilts was even toured around the world with the Fork Arts of Idaho and Western Fork Art Organizations. Her homemade divinity was revered as the best in town. She loved spending time with her family out camping, picking huckleberries or just hanging out at reunions. She spent many years serving as a visiting teacher and primary worker for the LDS Church. She and Clarence were later sealed in the Logan LDS Temple on October 10, 1986. She was also an active and dedicated member of the Daughters of Utah Pioneers. A celebration of life will be held Wednesday, December 30, 2015 at the Bennington LDS Church in Bennington, Idaho, between 11:00 am-12:30 pm. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Anona's life. Interment will follow, in the Bennington Cemetery.
