Cherry, Barbara JeanBarbara Jean Cherry, beloved spouse of John A. Muraski, passed away suddenly at home on All Hallows Eve, October 31, 2017, from complications of type 1 diabetes, a disease that afflicted her during and since her childhood, and which affliction she courageously and determinedly dealt with every day during her whole lifetime.A life-long resident of Green Bay, she was born on April 2, 1952, second daughter of Dr. Louis F. Cherry DDS and Alice (Leary) Cherry. She attended St. Jude Catholic Grade School and Green Bay West High School. She attended and graduated from the University of Wisconsin - Oshkosh with a Bachelor's degree in Journalism and for many years was an employee of the Green Bay News Chronicle working in many different capacities including sales, editorial assistance, and circulation logistics, until that newspaper ceased operations. Subsequent to that, she became employed by the Green Bay Public School District as a Paraprofessional serving in the 4K head start program at Keller Elementary, the elementary alternative education program at Franklin Middle School, and the 4K program at King Elementary School, until her retirement in early April of 2017. She also enjoyed serving as Paralegal Assistant to her attorney husband.Barbara enjoyed her work, reading and visiting in her sun room, tending her flowers and garden in her back yard, dancing and traveling with John.She is survived by her husband; her stepson, Green Bay Police Captain, Jeremy Muraski; her granddaughter, Brooke Muraski; her sister, Mary Jo Cherry; her sisters-in-law, Kathy Cherry, Mary Lou Muraski, and Sister Rosalyn Muraski FSCC; nieces and a nephew, and great nieces and nephews.She was preceded in death by her parents, by her brothers, John Cherry, former bursar of the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay, and Joseph Cherry, a long-time area barber.Per Barbara's wishes, funeral arrangements will be private and personal to her family.
