Bertha Villarreal Owens, age 39, passed away after a long battle with cervical cancer on June 27, 2018. She was born in Chicago, IL, on Feb. 25, 1999, the daughter of Gerald and Brenda Mae Owens. Bertha's family moved to Madison in 1990.

Bertha worked for Oscar Mayor before doing adult foster care for the State of Wisconsin. She was very involved in the community as an interpreter and volunteer.

She is survived by her children, Daniel Owens, Rosemary Owens and Theresa (Jerry) Small; 4 grandchildren; many cousins; her siblings, John (Maria) and Mary Alice; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her Grandfather, Gerald Sr., in 1998; her grandmother, Bertha small. and Angel “LayLay” and her cousin, Max and Johnathan Small.

A private family celebration will be held in Chicago IL at a later date.
