WORTON, Md. - Betty Ann Solloway Goldbach died Nov. 9, 2016 at home surrounded by her loving family. Betty Ann was born on Nov. 13, 1938 in Chestertown, Md., daughter of the late Horace and Rhoda Solloway. She was raised on a farm in Worton, Md., and was a graduate of Chestertown High School class of 1956. She began her working career at Solloway/Clarks Store in 1954 and retired from C&P/Bell Atlantic in 1991 at a supervisor. She later owned and operated a school bus in Lewes. In 1999 she returned to Worton, Md., driving a school bus for James Schauber and from 2003 to 2011 she owned and operated Clark's Store. She served as President of Belair Mansion in Bowie, Md., President of Business & Professional Woman's Club of Bowie/Crofton and President of BPW Devries, Lewes. Betty Ann enjoyed volunteering at the Homeless Shelter in Chestertown, Md., Red Cross, and a member of St. James United Methodist Church, where she was very active with projects including Operation Christmas, Childs Shoe Boxes and Back Pack Ministries as well as many others. She also opened her home and heart to many less fortunate. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Frankie Solloway. Betty Ann is survived by her children, Linda Williams (Chris), of Silver Spring, Md., and Michael Clothier (Shelley) of Chestertown, Md.; brothers, Al Solloway, of Worton, Md., John Solloway, of Louisiana; a sister, Doris Plummer, of Rockville, Md.; grandchildren, Travis, Suzie, Michael, Jr. and Ashley; six great-grandchildren; five nephews; and one niece. Funeral service will be held on Tuesday, Nov. 15, 2016, at 1 p.m. in the Galena Funeral Home of Stephen L. Schaech, 118 W. Cross St. Galena, Md., where friends may call from 12 to 1 p.m. Burial in Chester Cemetery, Chestertown, Md. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be offered to St. James United Methodist Church c/o Galena Funeral Home.
