Sister Birdie Mae Smith was born to the Late Birdie Smith from Belle Rose, La and the Late Robert Smith from New Orleans, La.

Birdie accepted Christ as her Savior at an early age. She later joined Third Rose of Sharon under Rev. Jackson where she remained a faithful member until she became ill and God called her home. Sis. Birdie Mae Smith departed this life on February 6, 2020.

She has one daughter, Angela Marie Smith whose engaged to Gregory Baker from Rayville, La.,  and one son, James Edward Smith.

She has 5 grandchildren.  Angela's children are Raymond Smith in Oakland, Ca., Michael Smith who is engaged to Brianne Sledge, Nukaya Baker, and Nu'kyra Baker in Monroe, La.  James' s daughter is Arianna Goodine in Panama City,  Florida.

She has 5 great grandchildren. By Michael; Asante Sledge, Honesty Smith, Micah Smith, and Damian Sledge. By Raymond; Tyler Hicks of Oakland, Ca.

She has 7 sisters and 3 brothers. Her siblings are Cassandra Richard from Belle Rose, who is married to Edward Richard, Debra Landry of Gonzalez,  Doreen Kelly of Donaldsonville,  Helen Lewis of Donaldsonville, Diana Landry who is married to Albert Landry, Idessa Walker of New Orleans, Edward Hayes of Donaldsonville, who is married to Cotimea Brown, Terry Smith who is married to Dushanne Smith,  Earl Smith of Donaldsonville, and preceded in death by Marguerite Nicholas of Belle Rose.

She also has a host of God children that she loved and helped raise. Dionne Jerry, Clarence, Derrick, and Janell Ridgley.

At Third Rose of Sharon Sis.Birdie Smith was a faithful member of the Choir, Sunday School, Bible Study, Youth Dept., Mission Dept., Women's Dept., and TRS Specials.

She was also a Faithful member of The Ideal Association's Chorus, The Eastern Stars,The Ideal Women's Dept., and The Redemptorist Bible Study Program.

She was a Faithful employee for The Catholic Charities at St. Monica and Xavier Prep.

She graduated high school at Booker T. Washington. She also went to Nursing school at Delgado.

She leaves to cherish her precious memories her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, godchildren, siblings, a host of nieces and nephews, church family and friends.  With much Love and many many memories she leaves her Long time friend Ms. Catherine Bibbs Brown. Her Sister and Friend Ms. Roslind Perry and Mr. John Perry. Her family away from her family; The Johnsons and The Jackson family.
