Carolyn Monroe Bryson, "Grammie", 85, went to be with the Lord on November 3, 2016 after short battle with Leukemia. She was born on May 13, 1931 in Charlotte at the former St. Peters Hospital, a daughter of the late Joseph and Mabel Hoover Monroe. Carolyn was born in Charlotte and briefly lived in Houston, TX and Atlanta, GA. She lived her last 46 years in Charlotte. Loved by her children and grandchildren, she loved holidays with her family. Carolyn loved going to the beach, especially on the annual family beach trip to Garden City, SC. She enjoyed spending summers on Lake Wylie, gardening, and organizing reunions for her Central High School Class of 1949.She attended the University of South Carolina majoring in secretarial sciences. She volunteered with the Carolina's Carousel Parade for over 40 years. Carolyn worked during elections for the Charlotte Board of Elections for over 25 years as Registrar for her precinct. Carolyn was referred to as "Mayor of Merrymount Drive" by her beloved neighbors. She was a long time member of Carmel Presbyterian Church.Carolyn is survived by daughters: Cheryl Bryson Decker of Lake Wylie, SC, Kelly Bryson Tate and husband Steve, Charlotte, NC, Lee Anne Bryson Robinson and fiance James Fox, Clover, SC; grandchildren, Mary Decker, Will Decker and wife Bailey, Emily Robinson, Katie Robinson; great- grandson, Nathan English; and sister, Harriet Monroe Dry and husband Pete, Surfside Beach, SC. She is also survived by her cat and friend, "Jingles".The service to honor her life will be held at 2 pm on Sunday, November 6, 2016 in the Chapel of Harry & Bryant, 500 Providence Rd., Charlotte. The family will receive friends from 1:00-1:45 prior to the service. Interment will follow at Forest Lawn West Cemetery.Memorial contributions may be made to , 4530 Park Rd.
