Cedric Darrell Phillips Sr. was born on June 4th, 1957 in Oakland, California to Essie Stamper and Jefferson Davis Phillips. He confessed to Christ at an early age uniting with Pilgrim Rest Baptist Church.
He was educated in the Berkeley and Oakland Unified School Districts. He graduated from Oakland Technical High School in 1975. He also attended Laney College.
He worked various jobs throughout his life, most in a face-to-face environments, where he was able to display his communication and people skills and understanding of people from all walks of life.
Anyone who encountered Cedric was not a stranger for long, he was a person who knew how and loved to have a conversation. On almost any subject matter. He also knew how to throw a "party" and he held a few legendary ones in his life. Some that people still talk about to this day, especially when reflecting on their past. He also, had a strong love, for music, fashion and family, and friends.
He departed this life on May 28th, 2018 and was preceded in passing by his father, Jefferson Davis Phillips; his brother, Marcus Terrell Sr.; his grandfather, Alex Bolton Stamper; his grandmother, Alice Lee Stamper; two aunts, Antowoner Stamper and Essie Mae Watson-Francisco.
He leaves behind to cherish his memory his loving mother, Essie Stamper Singleton of Oakland, California; three loving sons, Dameon Phillips of Hayward, California, Cedric Darrell Phillips, Jr., of Oakland, California and his youngest Tianti Phillips of Oakland, California; two sisters, Jasmin Grice McCullough of Oakland, California and Sandra Dervin Maddox of Anchorage, Alaska; one brother, Marlon Grice of Hayward, California; one sister-in-law, Antoinette Grice of Hayward, California, and one brother-in-law, Byron McCullough of Oakland, California, eight nieces, Nicole, Geneica, Gerri, Jasmin, KaSandra, Latisha, Marlana, and Mary Neal, four nephews, Marcus Jr, Kyle, Dominique and Karl Jr., six first cousins, Wanette, Marion, Therion, Tina, David and Deon, and a host of other relatives and friends.
