Charles "Chuck" DunlopCharles "Chuck" Dunlop, 81, of Yakima, passed away on March 3, 2016, at the Cottage In The Meadow. He was born on April 27, 1934 in Grand Forks, North Dakota to Arthur and Catherine Dunlop. As a result of his father's occupation, he moved several times in his childhood, living mostly in the Northwest. He graduated from Ellensburg High School, and joined the US Army, where he served proudly until his honorable discharge. He returned to Ellensburg to finish his Bachelors of Education degree at Central Washington University. He married Sally Thierkoff in 1954 and to this marriage was born 5 children; Pat, Laurel, Dan, Cathy, and Chris. He taught at various schools including, East Wenatchee and East Valley High School. He enjoyed being the golf coach and football and basketball referee, and the umpire for baseball. He was an avid sports fan, and especially loved the Seahawks and Mariners. Chuck was also a member of the
Elks Club in Selah for 35 years. In 1988 he married Mary Ellen Monahan Logsdon, and they enjoyed nearly 28 years of marriage. Chuck is survived by his wife, Mary Ellen Dunlop, and children, Pat Dunlop, Laurel (Tom) Dunham, Dan (Vicky) Dunlop, Cathy, (Curt) Dyk, Chris (Arla) Dunlop, Mary Beth Logsdon, David (Nicole) Logsdon, and Amy (Jerry) Wilder. Chuck is also survived by his grandchildren, Anna (Matt) Fevergeon, Tim (Lyndsay) Dyk, and Mitchell Dyk, Heather (Jeff) Williams, Kelsey (David) Assink, Brian, Carley, Sean, Corey, and Kara Dunlop, Brock, Jeremie, & Drason Wilder, Avery and Evan Logsdon, and Gunnar Heinig, as well as five great grandchildren, Milo and Pearle Fevergeon, and Kayden, Keegan, and Peyton Wilder.The family would like to thank Memorial Hospice and Veronica Wilsey and Tom Nanamkin for the compassionate care they all provided.A Memorial Mass is planned for Friday, March 11th at 11:00AM at Holy Family Catholic Church.
