A smile to brighten eyes, a laugh that was music to ears, a life well lived.
Cheryl E. Stewart was born July 18, 1944, to Valeria and Booker T. Stewart. She was the second oldest of five children. Her brothers Lawrence, David and sisters Valeria and Laurel, all preceded her in death.
Cheryl was baptized at an early age attending Catholic schools before graduatingProvident St. Mell High School as valedictorian. She then went on to Loop College and got a degree in Fine Arts also receiving her certificate in phlebotomy. Cheryl was a wise and witty person. She had a sharp tongue but a kind heart. Cheryl was very forgiving, open and generous. She had a love for writing her own short stories and poems. She was also an avid reader.
In June of 1963, Cheryl married Leonard J. Thompson, to that union five kids were born Leonard Thompson Jr.(Miranda), Michele Draper(Preston), Denise Grant(Michael), Lynda Phillips(Frank), and Daniel Thompson. Cheryl then became a grandmother to seventeen grandchildren. Leonard Thompson, Brian Thompson, Antoine Phillips, Erickah Thompson(who preceded her in death), Michael Thomas, Takeisha Thompson, Andrew Grant, Daniel Thompson, Michele Grant, Adam Phillips, Angel Grant, Marquise Thompson, Jared Draper, Jasiah Draper, Eiyhana Grant, Alaina Thompson, and Isaiah Phillips. Cheryl also had 13 great grand kids whom her oldest Zion, calls her Gi-Gi. Cheryl loved spending time with her grandchildren. She supported, loved and stood by her grandchildren keeping them for summers at a time. Cheryl loved spending time with her family as she was the glue for them.
Cheryl will be greatly missed by her family and friends. To be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord. Cheryl will always be walking, sitting, and watching over us in spirit. Thank you for coming. Be blessed.
