Van Pay, ClarenceClarence P. Van Pay, 89, Green Bay, passed away on Thursday, October 19, 2017. He was born on August 5, 1928, in the Town of Humboldt, the son of John and Pauline (Vanden Avond) Van Pay. Clarence graduated from Summit School and worked on the family farm and at other various jobs before his marriage. On November 17, 1945, he married his one and only lover, Rose "Rosie" Ostrenga, at Holy Trinity Church, Casco. They enjoyed country living, farming in Casco until Clarence began a 43 year career at Northern Paper Mill (now Georgia Pacific), retiring as a working foreman in 1989. He and Rosie purchased a home on the North Side of Green Bay where they raised their seven sons. Joe Ostrenga spent much of his early life with the family, "becoming the 8th son". Clarence remained in his home of over 58 years after Rosie preceded him in death on September 12, 2008. Clarence and Rosie spent lots of time up north, first in Dunbar, then Armstrong Creek where they tended a large garden and did many other things around the cabin. The land up north was a gathering spot for family and friends, especially during the deer hunting season. The couple also travelled with Cy and Janet Van Pay to Arizona, visiting Chet and Helen for many years. Clarence was an avid Catholic and was a member of SS. Peter & Paul Parish where he attended 8 a.m. Mass daily for over 20 years. Survivors include his seven sons: Norb (Linda), Chet (Helen), Dave (Cindy), Fran, Steve (Cheri), Mark (Sue), Randy (Annette); his grandchildren, Carrie (Jeff), Becky, Jessie (Lisa), Elizabeth, Brian, Stacy, David Lee (Cathy), Vicky (Brian), Dawn, Dr. Lisa (Dr. Rossman), Lori (JR), Keith (Rachel), Troy (Jamie), Amanda (Shawn), Kyle, Cassidy and Race, great-grandchildren Cody, Sarah, Zac, Destiny, Allie, Cole, Derek, Dylan, Laney, Sylvia, Juliana, Grayson, Kendra, Justin, Easton, Ava, and one on the way; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Audrey Van Pay, Ray and Rita Ostrenga, Edwina and Richard Lealiou, and Rita Kaster, many nieces and nephews.In addition to his beloved wife of 63 years, and his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter-in-law, Karen Van Pay whom he missed dearly; two sisters, Alice (Mike) Heiser, Myrtle (Archie) Van Gothem, two infant sisters; three brothers: Harold, Robert (Beatrice) and Bernie; sisters -in-law and brothers-in-law, Regina (Thomas) Blan, Agnes (Joseph) Rebarchek, Susie (Rueben) Ullman, Bill Gerstner, Calvin Kaster, Edward Ostrenga, Mitchell Ostrenga, Chester Ostrenga, Teresa Ostrenga and Toefil (Joyce) Ostrenga.Visitation will be at Proko-Wall Funeral Home, 1630 E. Mason St., from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. with a Parish Wake starting at 7:00 p.m. on Monday, October 23, 2017. Visitation will continue at SS. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, 720 N. Baird St., from 10:00 a.m. until the time of Mass on Tuesday, October 24, 2017. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday at Church with Rev. Anthony Cirignani O.F.M. officiating. Entombment will be in Shrine of the Good Shepherd Mausoleum. Online condolences may be expressed at
