Claudette Stamper King, 76MUNCIE - Claudette Stamper King, 76, passed away on Sunday, November 13, 2016 at her residence surrounded by family members. She went to heaven praising the Lord. She was born on June 4, 1940 in Morehead, Kentucky to the late Claude and Geneva (Johnson) Stamper. She moved to Muncie in 1943 where she attended and graduated from Royerton High School in 1959. Claudette was a dyed in the wool Redbird and always enjoyed gathering with her classmates. She retired in 2014 from serving in various jobs in Delaware County government where she was employed for several decades. She was currently employed as a caretaker with Home Instead. Claudette was the Precinct Committeeman for Precinct #48 for many years. She was a member of the Delaware Democratic League of Women Voters and was proud to have voted in the past election. Claudette attended McCormick View Chapel and made it a practice to pray for others daily. She enjoyed time spent with her large family, especially the little ones.Claudette is survived by her loving and devoted daughter, Rhonda DeFrees (Phil) of Muncie; a brother, Everett Stamper (Janis) of Pendleton; three sisters, Vonnie Kidd (Charles) of Centerville; Jean Stamper Johnson of Muncie and Martha Stamper Randall (Robert) of Huntersville, NC. Grandchildren Kristopher Bilbrey (Joni) of Winchester and Andrew DeFrees (Ashley) of Cypress, TX and four great-grandchildren, Kane DeFrees, Devyn DeFrees, Avery Mote and Cooper Mote, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins a special ex-sister-in-law, Peggy Stamper, and very special friend, Linda Honeycutt.Claudette was preceded in death by her parents; her son, Christopher Scott King, a brother, Donald Stamper; a brother-in-law, Frank Johnson; a sister-in-law, Elaine Friedman; a very special niece, Ranae Stamper. Funeral service to celebrate Claudette's life will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, November 19, 2016 at Garden View Funeral Home10501 North St. Rd 3 in Muncie.
