ANGOLA — Claudia Faye "Maw" Hicks, age 85, of Angola, Indiana and formerly of Harlan, Kentucky, passed away at her home, on Saturday December 10, 2016, with her family by her side. Claudia was born on November 6, 1931 in Harlan, Kentucky, the daughter of Claude and Lucy (Campbell) Cox. She graduated from Harlan High School. She married George William Hicks on March 4, 1949 in Harlan, Kentucky, and he preceded her in death in 1994. Claudia enjoyed doing crochet, cooking, baking, canning, camping, attending church, and especially loved spending time with her grandchildren. Survivors include her children, Lucy Katherine (Ricky) Doty of Commerce Township, Michigan, George William (Marilyn) Hicks, Jr., of Erie, Colorado, Steve Jennings Hicks of Detroit, Michigan, and Jennie (Dan) Hammond of Angola, Indiana; eight grandchildren, Rich, Jason, George, Brian, Paul, Megan, Robert and Michael; 12 great-grandchildren; a sister, Sylvia Lyons; and brothers, Claude Cox, Jr., and Dale Cox. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; sisters Thelma Howard and Carol Campbell; and a brother, Joe Cox. Memorial services will be held at 11 am Saturday, December 17, 2016 at Christ Life Tabernacle Church, 1220 South Wayne Street, Angola, Indiana, with Pastor Nathan Stroud officiating. There will be one hour of calling prior to the services at the church, from 10-11 a.m. Saturday. Memorials in her memory are requested to the Christ Life Tabernacle Church, or to Cameron Hospice.
