Darryl was born to Long Beach and Long Beach raised him. From his life mentor, Darren Rockett, a hero firefighter and his local community in North Long Beach, that had a great influence in Darryl's life. He gave his mother, Cheri Solwick, and father, Calvin Martin, a scare at a young age with a horrific accident, that led to emergency brain surgery. From there they would know that this son would be a roller coaster ride through life. Darryl continued life in the High Desert with friends and family.

Darryl is survived by his mother, father, siblings, nieces, and nephews.
