David Alan ShaefferZANESVILLE: David Alan Shaeffer, 72, of Zanesville passed away Thursday, August 25, 2016, at Cedar Hills Care Center.Dave was born on April 2, 1944, in Zanesville to the late Lister and Stella Acheson Shaeffer. Dave retired from the accounting department at Stewart-Glapat, Corp. He was a member of Zanesville Kiwanis, First United Methodist Church, ZHS Quarterback Club and Tip Off Club, and treasurer of the Zanesville Athletic Boosters. He was the statistician for Zanesville High School football and basketball for many years. Dave previously was the treasurer for West Muskingum Athletic Boosters, where he also kept stats for the basketball team. Dave enjoyed a variety of sports, especially The Ohio State University Buckeyes, but his true love was his family.He is survived by his wife Joy Sheppard Shaeffer, as well as three sons, including Andy (Cheryl) Shaeffer, Joe (Brandy) Shaeffer, and Trent (Betsy) Trout; a daughter, Lisa (Todd) Shook; a brother, Mike (Cathy) Shaeffer; and six grandchildren, including Molly Shook, Annie Shook, Blake Trout, Ben Shaeffer, Emma Shaeffer, and Allison Shaeffer. He is also survived by a number of other family members.In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife Joyce Maxwell Shaeffer, who passed away November 22, 1991.In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Zanesville Athletic Boosters, 1701 Blue Ave., Zanesville, OH 43701.Calling hours will be 2-6 p.m. on Sunday, August 28 at THE SNOUFFER FUNERAL HOME 1150 WEST MILITARY ROAD ZANESVILLE.
