Van Alstine, David "Pete"David "Pete" L. Van Alstine, age 81, New London, passed away on Wednesday, September 6, 2017. He was born on October 14, 1935, in New London son of the late Albert and Mary (Crain) Van Alstine. In August of 1958, he was married to Joan Ulman; she preceded him in death on January 14, 1972. On November 23, 1974, Pete was united in marriage to Jan Miller. He started his career as a meat cutter and in 1976 Pete started working for Standard Oil as an agent; he went on to start his own jobber business Van Alstine Oil; his business motto was "No Cold Feet with Pete". He enjoyed participating in and watching athletics, he especially enjoyed hunting, fishing, golf and life on the Wolf River. Pete had a passion for cooking and liked to try his hand at gourmet recipes. He is survived by his wife Jan; daughter, Kathy (David) Derfus, Neenah; son Joseph (Lori Dehlinger) Van Alstine, Waupaca and his children: Abby (Jason) Heinritz; Sam Van Alstine and Anna Van Alstine; son, James Miller, Northport; his children, Luke (Megan) Miller and Jaydee Miller; daughter, Christine Charleson, Verona; her children, Elizabeth and Marissa Charleson; daughter in-law, Kelly Van Alstine, Hortonville; her children, Hannah, Maddy and Emma Van Alstine. Pete is further survived by 8 great-grandchildren, a brother Larry (Kay) Van Alstine, De Pere, brother in-law, Claude Holzem, Sun Prairie, other relatives and many friends.He was preceded in death by his parents, first wife Joan, son Patrick, daughter in-law, Lori, and sisters, Barbara Holzem and Elizabeth (Ron) Tadych.Funeral Mass for Pete will be held on Saturday, September 9, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at Most Precious Blood Catholic Church, New London with Fr. John Kleinschmidt officiating. Visitation will be held at the church on Saturday from 8:30 a.m. until the time of mass.Burial will be in the parish cemetery.The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at St. Joseph Residence and the many friends and neighbors that supported Pete the last few years.
