HILLSDALE - With magical timing, Doris Evelyn Tarantino left us to meet the love of her life on what would have been their 70th wedding anniversary, Sunday, December 20, 2015. Doris was married to Joseph Tarantino for 64 years until he went to be with the Lord nearly six years ago. They were married on December 20, 1945, and lived in Hillsdale until they retired to Florida over thirty years ago to be near their family. She has lived near The Villages, Florida, for the past six years.She was born on August 30, 1921, in Allen, Michigan to the late Cecil and Alice (Russell) Bennett. Doris graduated from Allen High School, Allen, Michigan and was the class secretary. Doris was employed a large majority of her life as a teacher's aide at Gier Elementary School in Hillsdale, Michigan. She is survived by her son, Tony (Terry) Tarantino and daughter, Joellen Tarantino-Coy (Dr. James Coy); grandsons, Michael (Jenny) Moore and Jordan Moore; great grandson, Garett Tarantino; twin-great granddaughters, Kaitlin and Anabella Moore and the newest great-grandbaby, Madeline Moore all of Florida, and God-daughter, Tammy Crawford.She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, three brothers, Charles, Dale and Dean Bennett and two sisters, Donna Hilton and Shirley Benjamin as well as her grandson, Tony Tarantino II and her very special niece, Dawn (Bates) Eland.Graveside services for Doris Tarantino will be Monday, December 28, 2015 at 11 a.m. at Allen Cemetery in Allen, Michigan with Fr. David Reamsnyder officiating. The family will receive friends for visitation on Sunday from 2 to 4 p.m. at VanHorn-Eagle Funeral Home in Hillsdale, Michigan.In lieu of flowers, donations can be given to the Reading American Legion Auxiliary.
