Dorma MonroeJune 29, 1928 - June 16, 2014Soda Springs: Dorma Chapman Monroe, 85, of Soda Springs passed away on Monday, June 16, 2014 in Idaho Falls, ID.Dorma was born on June 29, 1928 in Preston, Idaho the daughter of John William and Emma Alexia Page Chapman. She lived in Preston until 1942 when she moved to Firth where she lived until 1954. Dorma married Doanald Leon Monroe on July 17, 1956 in the Idaho Falls Temple. He passed away on January 8, 2002.She attended Rick's College where she received an Associate Degree and also Utah State where she received a Bachelor's Degree. She was an Elementary School Teacher for 49 years retiring in 2013 and many years of hard work on the farm.She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and served a mission in Northern California prior to getting married. She served in various callings such as Relief Society President, chorister, visiting teaching and one of her favorite was teaching Temple Preparation Classes. Dorma enjoyed writing, gardening, scripture study and attending the Temple. After retirement she enjoyed being a part of the Pink Ladies, Homemaking Club and Daughters of Utah Pioneers.She is survived by one son, Garth & Robin Cooper Monroe of Soda Springs, ID, and four daughters, Dorma Lee Lindsay of West Valley City, UT, Debra and Ken Neeley of Kearns, UT, Lynette and K.C. Moore of Kirkland, WA, Michele and Mike Herzog of Elko, NV. She is also survived by 8 Grandchildren and 5 Great-Grandchildren and two brothers, John Chapman, Wilford Chapman and one sister Shirley Johnson. She was preceded in death by her husband, Doanald, two sisters, Donna Peterson, Lucille Dye, and one grandson, Riley Monroe.Services will be held on Saturday, June 21, 2014 at Noon at the Soda Springs 5th Ward Chapel (361 South 3rd East). The family will visit with friends on Friday evening from 7-8 p.m. at the Sims Funeral Home and on Saturday from 10:30-11:30 a.m. at the Church prior to services. Burial will be at the Fairview Cemetery in Soda Springs.In Lieu of flowers the family suggests donations be made to your local Missionary Fund.Condolences may be shared with the family online at www.simsfh.com
