LANDFRIED, Dorothy JoanDorothy Joan was called home to her Lord on November 1, 2016 at the age 81, the second oldest of three brother and one sister. She was born on December 28, 1934 in Waco, Texas, graduated from Waco High School in 1953. She was employed by J.C. Penny, retired as office manager. With 28 years of service, she was an excellent cook and enjoyed preparing meals for family gatherings. She married Talbert Landfried and shortly after marriage, Talbert was transferred from Waco to Bryan Texas and that's when she joined the Lutheran Church. She was raised in a Baptist family. Joan was a long time member of Redeemer Lutheran Church in Austin. Preceding her in death, were her parents, son Gary Landfried and her brother. Her survivors include her husband Talbert of 63 years, three sons; Len Landfried and wife Barbara of Jonestown, Larry Landfried and his wife Liz of Austin, Gayland Landfried and wife Luann of Lago Vista, five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; her sister Wanda Yowell of Waco; brother Rodney and wife Connie of Waco and her brother Billy and wife Joanie of Waco, and a number of nieces and nephews. Friends are cordially invited to a visitation with the family from 6:00-8:00 pm Thursday, the 3rd of November 2016 at Cook-Walden Funeral Home, 6100 N. Lamar Blvd. Austin TX 78752.
