Doyle Edison Mendheim, Sr. Oct 18, 1931 - Nov 16, 2016 Macon , GA - Doyle Edison Mendheim, Sr., 85, of Macon, Georgia died Wednesday, November 16, 2016. Services will be held at First Baptist Church of Christ on Saturday, November 19, 2016 at 1:00PM with the Reverend Scott Dickison officiating. The family will greet friends following the service at the church. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations be made to Compassionate Care Hospice, 305 Smithville Church Road, Warner Robins, Georgia 31088, or to The Gideons International, 524 Poplar Street, Macon, GA 31201. Mr. Mendheim was born on October 18, 1931. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Christ, serving as a deacon, chairman of ushers and director of several Sunday School departments. He was a veteran of the United States Navy and a member of the Gideons. Mr. Mendheim worked with National Cash Register and Down River Forest Products. He founded and published Senior News. Mr. Mendheim is survived by his wife, Merle Bond Mendheim; children, Doyle Edison Mendheim, Jr., Kaye Mendheim Rawls (John Hartridge), Leah Mendheim Berryhill (Eddie) and Beth Mendheim Freeman (Steve); grandchildren, April Wade, Nicholas Swain, Dustin Swain, Joseph Lipford and Alicia Moore; nine great-grandchildren; brother, Billy Mendheim (Ruth).
