Edgar Lauraine Schultz, Jr.Ventura, CAEdgar Lauraine Schultz, Jr. age 86, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, March 6, 2017 at Ventura Townehouse in Ventura, California. He was born on May 26, 1930 in Chicago, Illinois to Gertrude Alice (Anderson) and Edgar Lauraine Schultz, Sr.After graduating high school and attending college for one year, Ed served in the U.S Navy and then the U.S. Army. Shortly after being honorably discharged, he married the love of his life, June Ruth Hansen on August 22, 1953. They spent 57 years together until she passed away on December 30, 2010. Ed and June enjoyed camping, fishing, garage saling, playing cards, traveling and raised two boys, Jim and Bill. Ed worked as a computer analyst for Hammond Organ and Methodist Publishing House and then enjoyed a second career as a painter and decorator. One of Ed's hobbies was moving ? he bought and sold numerous homes in Tennessee, Ohio, Illinois, Michigan and Florida over his life and lived in quite a few retirement communities as well. Ed loved dogs and was contemplating a dog adoption just last month. Ed was gifted at welcoming the new-comer. He faithfully served as greeter, usher and deacon at church and enthusiastically welcomed new residents to the Townehouse. A repertoire of clever numbers would spontaneously be sung to anyone willing to listen, famously sung in the key of "Ed." He had a sharp wit and always had a joke or humorous story to share. His childhood nickname "Sunny" aptly describes his warm disposition; the sparkle in his blue eyes conveyed the willing friendship he offered. He was very proud of his family and firmly put his faith in Jesus Christ as his Savior. In addition to his wife, Ed's only sibling, Marilyn (Schultz) Doke, preceded him in death in 2011. Ed and June are survived by their two sons, James (Jill) Schultz of Paw Paw, MI and William (Amy) Schultz of Ventura, CA. The Schultz legacy continues with nine grandchildren: Chad (Sara) of Holland, MI; Wade (Torey) of Bridgman, MI; Nathan (Nicole) of Modesto, CA; Ryan of Los Angeles, CA; Daniel (Morgan) of Fresno, CA; Renae and Jeanine of Rocklin, CA; Ian and Parker of Paw Paw, MI. Great-grandchildren are Toby, Madelyn, Corban, Isaac, Jackson, Selah, and Addison. A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, March 11, 2017 at 3:30 p.m. at Ventura Townehouse, 4900 Telegraph Road, 7th floor.
