Roberts, EleanoreEleanore Roberts, age 80, a Manitowoc resident, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, September 6, 2017 surrounded by her family.Eleanore was born on April 16, 1937 in Mishicot, WI, daughter of the late Antone and Rose (Valenta) Bohman. She was a graduate of Mishicot High School with the class of 1954, a graduate of Manitowoc Teaching College with the class of 1956, and then went on to earn her teaching degree from U.W. Oshkosh. On November 19, 1960 she married James Roberts at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Mishicot. He passed away on September 10, 2017. Eleanore taught at several rural, one room schools in Manitowoc County. She continued teaching as a substitute teacher in the Peshtigo area along with tutoring many children at St. Mary's in Peshtigo. Eleanore was a 4-H leader for many years. She served as President of St. Mary's Parish Council and Altar Society. She was a member of the church choir, CCD teacher, and a communion distributer. She took care of many elderly homebound parishioners and led many fund raisers for the missions. She and her husband were the recipients of the highly distinguished Touhey Award for their volunteering at Marinette Catholic Central High School. Eleanore was also a past President of the Vicariate Society for the Green Bay Catholic Diocese. She was a leader in the Catholic community as well as the Roberts' household. Survivors include two sons and one daughter-in-law: Tony (Cathy) Roberts, Manitowoc, WI, Jerry Roberts, Cato, WI; four daughters and sons-in-law: Mary (Larry) Dahl, Waukesha, WI, Betty (Ed) Pope, Newport Beach, CA, Ann (Kevin) Glosny, Suamico, WI, Christy (Pat) Baxter, Marinette, WI; 16 grandchildren; one great granddaughter; two brothers and sisters-in-law: Paul (Judy) Bohman, Anthony (Filvia) Bohman, all of Mishicot; three sisters and two brothers-in-law: Lucille Tess, Two Rivers, WI, Mary (Herman) Mattfield, Manitowoc, WI, Florence (Don) Jilek, Ewen, MI; and one sister-in-law and brother-in-law: Betty (Marvin) Kutz, Newton, WI. Nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends also survive.Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, September 16, 2017 at St. Francis of Assisi on Grand (1416 Grand Ave), Manitowoc. Officiating at the Mass of Christian Burial will be the Rev. Richard Klingeisen with entombment to follow at Calvary Mausoleum, Manitowoc.The family will greet relatives and friends on Friday, September 15, 2017 at St. Francis of Assisi on Grand, Manitowoc, from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. A Prayer Service will conclude the visitation at 8:00 p.m., led by Deacon Rich Bahnaman.
