Kiefer, Elizabeth "Elsie" K.Elizabeth "Elsie" K. Kiefer, 84, passed away unexpectedly on October 9, 2017 at St. Agnes Hospital in Fond du Lac. She was born on June 2, 1933 to Joseph and Theresa (Lang) Pilsl at St. Nicholas Hospital in Sheboygan. Elsie was united in marriage to John F. Kiefer on October 6, 1956 at Holy Name Parish in Sheboygan.Elsie always found time to be a devoted mother and grandmother, who nurtured her family through her faith. Elsie made a way to love her family and love her faith simultaneously, setting a beautiful example for her children and grandchildren to be the hands and feet of Christ.Elsie had a passionate spirit for volunteerism and was involved in many organizations and projects within the Sheboygan and Fond du Lac communities. She was an active member of Holy Family Catholic Parish, and a past active member of St. Dominic's Parish in Sheboygan. Elsie participated in the Bereavement and Social ministries, the Loaves and Fishes Program, the Daughters of Isabella and other groups, too numerous to mention. Elsie gave a lot of her time to help educate younger generations, including volunteering at St. Mary's Springs and assisting the preschool program at the YMCA, where she was affectionately known as "Miss Elsie."Elsie was a strong woman who had a clearly defined sense of right and wrong, tempered by compassion. She was a strong supporter of Right to Life. Elsie's leadership positions in many benevolent organizations are a testament to her loving and nurturing nature and her belief that all life is precious, from birth to death.Elsie is survived by six children Terri (David) Knaapen, John (Grace) Kiefer, Mary Beth (Dan) Lamb, Ann (Stephen) Streblow, Amy (Tom) Teofilo and David (Renee) Kiefer; 20 grandchildren Nicholas (Amanda) Knaapen, Sumathy (Kyle) Ostrowski, Jacob, Sara and Spenser Knaapen, John and Kyle Kiefer, Steven Lamb, Angela (Mark) Kloiber, Kelly Lamb, Samantha and Peter Streblow, Mingi Kye, Dohyan Kim, Anna, Kathryn and Maria Teofilo, Jack, Ben and Meg Kiefer and three great grandchildren Corinne, Everett and Harper. Elsie is further survived by three siblings Josie (Wes) Gosse, Robert Pilsl and Al (Suzie) Pilsl, many nieces, nephews and friends. Elsie was preceded in death by her husband, John, one granddaughter, Alex and one sister-in-law, Linda Pilsl.Visitation: Elsie's family will greet relatives and friends at Zacherl Funeral Home, 875 E. Division St., Fond du Lac, on Sunday, October 15, 2017 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM and again on Monday, October 16, 2017 at Holy Family Catholic Church, 271 4th Street Way, Fond du Lac, from 9:30 AM to 10:45 AM. Service: A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Holy Family Catholic Church on Monday, October 16, 2017 at 11:00 AM.
