Plautz, Ellen ElizabethEllen Elizabeth Plautz, age 94, died on February 2, 2017, at Three Oaks Health Services in Marshfield, Wisconsin. Ellen was born on December 1, 1922, at home in Ford River Township, Michigan (near Escanaba). Her father, Harvey Mornson, died when Ellen was six years old. Ellen's mother, Mary (nee Kundinger, from the lineage of Michael and Techla Kundinger, one of the first families to settle in the Auburndale, WI, area in the 1800's) died when she was 14 years old. Ellen moved to Prior Lake, MN, to live with her sister, Marie, and graduated from Shakopee High School.In 1946, Ellen married Noel A. Felix. They had three children before Noel passed away from a heart ailment in 1952. Ellen married George Plautz, a widower with one son, in 1955. George and Ellen had two daughters.Ellen was an excellent baker and cook and became proficient in making many of the Slovenian foods that her husband, George, enjoyed. She enjoyed making and decorating birthday cakes for family members. Ellen belonged to a local Christmas cookie club. The most important part for her was finding that special cookie recipe where she could be her most creative. Ellen also sewed most of the girls' clothing while they were growing up and even made her daughter's (Meda) wedding gown. Ellen was a member of St. Ann's Society and volunteered in the thrift shop they sponsored. Ellen was a crossword puzzle aficionado, enjoying the challenge of the more difficult puzzles from large city newspapers.Ellen is survived by children, Noel Felix, Meda (Jerome) Krempasky, John (Trixie) Felix, Laurie (Alex) Zamarripa, Gigi; stepchild, George Plautz, Jr.; ten grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild. She is further survived by one sister, Jeanne Willfahrt of Marshfield. Ellen was preceded in death by her parents, both husbands; siblings George, Robert, Marie, Louis, Raymond, Danny, and Theresa, and two grandchildren.A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Greenwood on Saturday, February 11, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. Visitation will be held at the church from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service. Burial will take place at St. Michael's Catholic Cemetery in Prior Lake, MN, at a later date.Chippewa Valley Cremation Services is serving the family.
