Ellen (Eisenman) Rowan, age 93, of the Jefferson Court in Brookville, PA, passed away on Friday, April 22, 2016, at the Penn Highlands Brookville Hospital in Brookville, PA. Ellen was born on June 11, 1922, in Brookville, PA. She was the daughter of the late P. Brosius Eisenman and Bonnie Conrad Eisenman. She married Leo Rowan on September 6, 1947, in Philadelphia, PA. Leo preceded her in death on September 22, 1981. Ellen graduated from Brookville High School and went on to attend Drexel University, then graduated from Grove City College. She was employed with the Brookville Area School District for many years in the business education department and retired in 1984. Ellen was a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Brookville, PA. She had been active in Aglow and Martha V. Conrad Club. She was also a member of ADK, a teacher's sorority. Ellen is survived by 3 sons, Stephen (Ruth) and Kenneth (Joan) Rowan, both of Brookville, PA; James (Mary) Rowan of Greencastle, PA; 2 daughters, Rosemary (Dean) Seagren of Ventura, CA; Patricia Rowan of Pittsburgh, PA; 6 grandsons, 2 granddaughters, 1 great-grandson, and 3 great-granddaughters. In addition to her parents and husband, Ellen was preceded in death by 1 sister, Esther Jane Eisenman, in 1972. Family and friends will be received on Thursday, April 28, 2016, from 2-4pm and 6-8pm, at the McKinney - d'Argy Funeral Home, 345 Main St., Brookville PA, 15825. A Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Friday, April 29, 2016, at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 129 Graham Ave., Brookville PA, 15825, beginning at 10:00am and officiated by Father William Laska. Interment will take place at St. Mary's Cemetery, Rose Twp., Jefferson Co., PA. Memorial contributions may be made in her name to the Rebecca M. Arthurs Library, 223 Valley St., Brookville PA, 15825.
