Erica Michelle ThompsonVentura, CA With heavy hearts, we announce that Erica Michelle Thompson, 24, was welcomed into the arms of her Savior after sustaining injuries in a motorcycle accident on Monday, April 17, 2017. Erica was born on January 28, 1993, in Ventura, California, to Christine (Day) Ortega and Eric Thompson. In childhood, Erica could always be found either playing with her sisters, hidden away in a small nook completely engrossed in a book, exercising her creative side through crafting, or soaking in an hour-long bubble bath. Erica attended Buena High School where she was an active member of the swim team and co-captain of the tennis team. She dedicated herself to learning German and studied abroad in Germany. After graduating with honors in 2011, Erica spent time living in Idaho and Texas working as a nanny. In her free time, Erica loved to line dance, spend time with friends and family, model, hike, and play guitar. Upon moving back to California, she continued her work as a nanny, attended Ventura College, and worked as an assistant coordinator for weddings and events. Despite her short time here, she blessed many people with her faith, strength and unfailing ability to always see the best in others. She will be missed for her endless capacity to love, her sensitive spirit, iron-will, kind heart, and beautiful soul. Erica is survived by her mother and step-father, Christine and Tracy Ortega; her father, Eric Thompson; three sisters, Emily (Grant) Cummings and children, Carrie Thompson, and Elizabeth Ortega; maternal grandparents, Edward and Loretta Day; paternal grandparents, Oakley and Janis Thompson; five aunts, Tiffany, Brittany, Sue, Gretta, and Jennifer; step-siblings Christine, Megan, Tony, Samantha, Alyssa, Cerena, and Cebrena. There will be an open viewing Thursday, April 27, from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., at the Ted Mayr Funeral Home, 3150 Loma Vista Road, in Ventura. Services will be open to the public and held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, April 28, Reality Church, 1954 Goodyear Avenue, in Ventura. Burial will follow at 1:00 p.m., Conejo Mountain Memorial Park, in Camarillo, California.
