Esther C. Osborne, 88, formerly of Wakefield died suddenly Saturday, November 12 at Blaire House of Tewksbury. She was born on August 3, 1928 in Norwell. She was the widow of Raymond Osborne and the daughter of Burr and Margaret Cornwell. She is survived by sister Alice Ripley of Kingston, brother Burr Cornwell of Norwell, brother-in-law Galen Osborne of Hopkinton, and many nieces and nephews. Esther was raised in Norwell and graduated from Norwell High School. She attended LaSalle Junior College and then trained at the Peter Bent Brigham School of Nursing. She was always proud to say she was a Brigham nurse. She held numerous nursing positions over the years but was the fondest of her time as a visiting nurse. She married the love of her life Ray in 1951 and they celebrated 65 years of marriage before Rays death in June of this year. Esther and Raymond were Wakefield residents for over 30 years. While in Wakefield, Esther was a tireless volunteer and participated in many civic organizations such as the Women's Club, the YMCA, and The Boite Home. She was also active in the First Parrish Congregational Church. Esther was heavily involved at Melrose-Wakefield Hospital, rising from being a volunteer in the gift shop to Chairman of the hospital board. During their time in Wakefield, Esther and Ray hosted three AFS students who continue to be part of the extended family. Esther's smile, positive outlook and warm personality helped her make many friends. Her family will always treasure her love and bright spirit. Funeral Service in the First Parish Congregational Church, 1 Church St., Wakefield on Saturday, November 19 at 10:00 oclock. Relatives and friends invited to attend.
