Evelyn Thompson, also known as the Candy Lady of Jackson, Mississippi, passed away on June 26, 2025, at the age of 66. She was born on September 14, 1958, to her parents Robert Lee Jones and Elgia Burks.

Evelyn was a beloved mother to her two children, Carmaron Thompson and Jonathan Jones. She was also a doting grandmother to her precious grandchild. Nakayla Cornelius. Surviving siblings, Jocelyn Everette and Millicent Williams.

One of Evelyn's favorite pastimes was being the local Candy Lady, delighting both children and adults with her sweet treats. She also had a knack for decorating for holidays, bringing joy and festivity to her community. She also loved to dance and listen to “her” music.

Evelyn will be remembered for her warm smile, generous spirit, and infectious laughter. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

Rest in peace, Evelyn Gwen Thompson. May your spirit of joy and creativity live on in the hearts of those you touched.
