Georgetta Carter Arnett, 84, died on Saturday December 10, 2016 at SOMC Hospice after a long battle with Alzheimer's disease. Georgie was born on February 7, 1932 in Portsmouth, OH to Earl and Tressa Stamper Carter. She served in the US Army during the Korean Conflict. Georgie had a very kind and gentle spirit and was generous to a fault. She always had a smile for everyone and she especially loved her grandchildren and great grandchildren and loved spending time with them at family gatherings.
Georgie was preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 50 years, Ralph B. Arnett, a step son, Tim Arnett, sisters, Eileen Adkins and Emma Jean Wamsley and a brother, Jack Carter. She is survived by her sister, Delana (Dee) Bolton and brother, Robert Carter, a special great niece, Susan Bolton, step sons Doug (Kathy) Arnett, Steve (Debbie) Arnett and Randy (Glenna) Arnett; grandchildren, Kristyn, Aaron, Morgan, Andy, Kellie, Amanda, Tiffany and Jessica, 10 great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
In accordance with Georgie's wishes, there will be no funeral service. The cremation is under the direction of the Roger W. Davis Funeral Home in West Portsmouth. There will be a celebration of life at a later date at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to SOMC Hospice, Alzheimer's research or an animal shelter of your choice, in Georgie's memory.
