Brefczynski, Gerald (Mike)Gerald (Mike) Brefczynski, age 79, a Manitowoc resident, died Sunday, January 1, 2017 at the Manitowoc Health & Rehabilitation Center, Manitowoc.He was born on March 22, 1937 in Manitowoc, son of the late Vincent and Katherine (Szymczyk) Brefczynski. Mike was a Veteran of the United States Marines with a tour of duty overseas. On April 28, 1962 he married the former Elaine Hoffman at St. Paul Catholic Church, Manitowoc. Mike enjoyed going to Brewer games with his son, Keith. He loved fishing with his buddies, especially his brother, Wally. Mike was also an avid gardener, especially flowers. Mike loved all dogs and enjoyed walking, especially with Muffin. He was employed with the City of Manitowoc Department of Public Works for many years until his retirement. Mike also volunteered as a voting technician for over 20 years and was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Parish.Survivors include his wife: Elaine Brefczynski, Manitowoc; one son and daughter-in-law: Keith & Lily Brefczynski, Washington; one granddaughter: Emily; one brother and sister-in-law: Norbert & Carol Brefczynski, Manitowoc; one sister: Dorothy Schramel, Milwaukee; one brother-in-law: Daniel Hoffman and his wife, Amy, Green Bay; and three sisters-in-law: Janice Brunig & her husband, Gary, Two Rivers, Sue Coulson and her husband, Jim, Manitowoc, and Donna Brefczynski, Manitowoc. Nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends also survive. He was preceded in death by three brothers and two sisters-in-law: Walter & Patsy Brefczynski, Edward & Marilyn Brefczynski, Al Brefczynski; two sisters and one brother-in-law: Mary & Albert Kopidlansky and Grace Brefczynski.Cremation has occurred at All-Care Cremation Center, Manitowoc. Funeral Services will be held at 11:30 a.m. Saturday, January 7, 2017 at St. Francis of Assisi on Marshall (1114 South 21st Street) Manitowoc. Officiating at the Mass of Christian Burial will be the Rev. David Beaudry. Military Rites will be accorded by
V.F.W. Otto Oas Post #659 of Manitowoc immediately following the service.
