Mrs. Giuseppa Persichino, age 85 years, passed away peacefully in Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre on Tuesday, October 11, 2016, with her family by her side. Giuseppa was born on July 29, 1931 in Sant'Elia Fiumerapido, Provincia di Frosinone, Italy. She immigrated to Canada with her family in 1968. Giuseppa worked as a cook at various places around Thunder Bay. She enjoyed cooking, baking, crocheting and gardening. Giuseppa's family was most important to her and she loved spending time with all of them. Giuseppa will be forever missed by her husband of 52 years, Pasquale; children Antonia (Jerry) Cervi, Franco and Alessio (Nancy) Persichino; grandchildren Piero (Lisa) and Amanda Cervi (Adam), Franco, Gino Fortier and Joe Raiche, Alexandra and Nicholas Persichino as well as great-grandchildren Dante, Isabella, Olivia, Chiara, Hailey and Jesse. She is also survived by her two sisters, Rosa (Vince) Vettraino and Antonia (Jimmy) Campbell of Scotland and many nieces, nephews and other relatives. She was predeceased by her parents, Saverio and Achita Soave and her brother, Domenico (Antonia). Funeral Services for the late Mrs. Giuseppa Persichino will be held on Monday, October 17, 2016 leaving the WESTFORT CHAPEL, 420 West Gore Street at 9:45AM to St. Anthony's Roman Catholic Church for the Funeral Mass at 10:30AM, celebrated by Father Luigi Filippini. Entombment will follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens. Visitation for family and friends will be held on Sunday evening after 6:00PM in the Westfort Chapel, with Vigil Prayers offered at 7:00PM. Should friends so desire, donations made in memory of Giuseppa to Heart and Stroke Foundation or the Alzheimer Society would be greatly appreciated.
