MOUNT PLEASANT - Glenn Thomas Nevins, 69, died peacefully on 18 August 2016 at Wheaton Franciscan All Saints Hospital, Racine. Glenn was born on 27 May 1947 in Muskegon Heights, Michigan to Thomas Nevins and Juanita (Coburn) Nevins. From the start he lived to discover and learn, taking apart radios and clocks to see how they worked as a young boy. He joined the Marines in 1967 and served his country in Vietnam, attaining the rank of Corporal, before a life-threatening injury brought him home. After the Marines, Glenn became a highly-skilled engineer and computer scientist, working for AO Smith, Thor Technologies and others on innovative projects throughout his career in Wisconsin. A life-long lover of photography and Harley Davidson motorcycles, he explored Wisconsin and the United States on his Harley, discovering new places and capturing beautiful images of nature. Glenns innate curiosity sometimes lead him to unexpected adventures, like narrowly escaping a charging bear! His experience as a Vietnam Veteran inspired him to join the Patriot Guard Riders, where he could show support for fallen soldiers. Glenn always had time for his children and grandchildren, to help with homework, practice softball, and take long bike rides. He saw learning opportunities everywhere, and he aimed to instil that inquisitive spirit in his family. Beyond this, he would install bathrooms and fix cars, make school lunches and send weather reports if you were on the road. He did a thousand kind acts for those he loved. Glenn is survived by his daughter, Emily (Nick Shields) Nevins, step daughter, DaNelle Borglin, beloved grandchildren Lexy, Xavier and Abigail, former wife and friend Pamela Engstrom as well as extended family and treasured friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas and Juanita Nevins, his brother, Ronald Mann, and his stepson Thomas Borglin. The funeral will take place on Friday 26 August 2016 at 12.30 pm at Sturino Funeral Home. Relatives and friends may meet at the funeral home from 11am until service time. Glenn will be laid to rest with full military honors at Southern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery 21731 Spring Street, Union Grove, WI 53182.
