Gordon Linaberry, 90, of South Montrose, passed away on Saturday, September 14, 2013, after a brief illness. He was born on November 2, 1922, in East Rush, the son of Clark and Florence (Price) Linaberry. Gordon is survived by his wife of 67 years, Kathryn (Roberts) Linaberry; two sons and their spouses, Jim and Diane Linaberry, South Montrose, Bob and Christina Linaberry, Naples, Fla.; five grandchildren, Brenda (Walter) Frystak, Jeffrey (Moanalei) Linaberry, Jason (Shannon) Linaberry, Jonathon Linaberry, and Robert G. Linaberry; and four great grandchildren. Survivors also include brothers, Edward Linaberry and Richard (Shirley) Linaberry; sisters, Leila Pierson, Doris Brink, and Betty Beeman; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sister, Evelyn. Gordon was born and raised on a farm in East Rush where he developed a strong work ethic and a commitment to family. He graduated from East Rush High School. In 1951, he and his young family moved to South Montrose where he began work at Bendix Corporation. While there, Gordon established many long lasting friendships. He and Kathryn retired in 1985 and for many years enjoyed traveling around the U.S. Gordon continued his life as a farmer by using his tractor to plow neighborhood gardens in the summer and to remove the snow from driveways in the winter. He was very handy and could seemingly fix anything. Gordon created many smiles with his quick, dry wit and had an endless supply of poems that he would share when least expected.Gordon's family will receive friends and family from 6 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, September 18, 2013, at the Daniel K. Regan Funeral Home. Montrose. A Memorial Service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, at the South Montrose Community Church, with Rev. Jane Pykus officiating. Interment will be in the South Montrose Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family suggests contributions to the South Montrose Community Church, Memorial Fund, P.O. Box 86, South Montrose, PA 18843.
