Haskell Lee ByarsJackson, TNMr. Haskell Lee Byars, age 92 of Jackson, passed away on Friday, November 18, 2016 at Maplewood Healthcare in Jackson.He was born on May 13, 1924 in Dyer, TN to the late Arthur Lee and Rose Flowers Byars. In his teenage years he worked in the CCC Camp in the Great Smokie Mountains National Park and he served in the
Army in
World War II in the Phillipines. He retired from Woodlands in Memphis where he was the Captain over security . He was a faithful member and greeter at Englewood Baptist Church. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Mildred Byars; his sister, Wilma Noel Thedford; and three brothers, Alfred, Jamie, and Almus Noel.He is survived by his wife, Lillian Baron Byars of Trenton; daughter, Patricia Byars Rowan (Wayne); two grandchildren, Melissa Coleman and Meredith Shelton (Jeff); five great grandchildren, Ben Coleman (Lindsey), Matthew Coleman, Grace Coleman, Jacob Shelton, and Claire Shelton; four nieces, Joan Aldridge, Kathryn Parker, Pansy Lindner, and Faye Bean; and the mother of his daughter, Reba Yergin of Kenton, TN. Two Step-Daughters, Beverly Barton (Kenneth) of Trenton and Ramona Holiroid of Jackson.The family received friends on Saturday, November 19 from 5-8 p.m. at George A. Smith and Sons North Chapel. Funeral services were held Sunday, November 20 at 2 p.m. at George A. Smith and Sons North Chapel with Dr. Philip Jett, Dr. Brent Lay, and Rev. Mark White officiating.
