Herman K. Luthiger1933-2016Herman Kasper Luthiger passed away on October 15, 2016 in Stafford, Texas at the age of 83. He was born on August 14, 1933 in Horw, Lucerne, Switzerland to Josef Lutiger and Maria Rosalia Leu. Herman had 1 brother, Josef; and 2 sisters, Rosemaire and Marie. Herman was the Pastry Chef for the Warwick Hotel for 10 years and the Petroleum Club in Houston for 15 years. In 1989 Herman and Peter Hobi opened Alpenrose Restaurant and Bakery in Steamboat Springs, CO which was a success, but eventually returned to Houston and began working at the Westin Galleria. On November 14, 1994, Herman and Peter opened Alphorn Bakery which is currently one of Houston's premier teaching bakeries. A celebration of Herman's life will take place at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 5, 2016 at Earthman Southwest Funeral Home
