Janssen, Hugh D.Hugh D. Janssen, 69, Green Bay, died Sunday, April 9, 2017. He was born on January 21, 1948, in Sheboygan to Hugh and Jeanne (Murray) Janssen.Hugh was a graduate of Green Bay West High School, Class of 1966. He served his country with the U.S. Marine Corps and fought in the Vietnam War. Following the war, Hugh served as a Sergeant and later retired as a Captain with the Brown County Sheriff's Department. He began as a patrol officer and later worked in the Brown County Jail. Hugh enjoyed photography, genealogy, coin collecting, golfing, traveling with his companion, Debbie Samsa, and had an affinity for firearms. He especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.Hugh is survived by two sons: Jeremiah (Robyn) Janssen, St. Paul, MN; David (Laura) Janssen, Green Bay; grandchildren, Hugh Henry Janssen and Samuel James Janssen; his companion of many years, Debbie Samsa; brothers and sisters, Sr. Jeanne Janssen C.S.J., Steven Janssen, Judith Janssen, Rebecca (William) Brooks, Eric Janssen, Keith (Peggy) Janssen, Martha Janssen, and Peter Janssen.He was preceded in death by his parents; and siblings, Mark, Joel, Barbara, and Amy.Friends may call at Blaney Funeral Home, 1521 Shawano Ave., from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday.
