Ivan "Ike" D. ZyskiDarr Road: Ivan "Ike" D. Zyski, 92, of Darr Road in Fremont passed away Monday, September 18, 2017 at Parkview Care Center. He was born on September 4, 1925 in Fremont to Herman & Caroline (Kline) Zyski.On July 5, 1946, Ike married Betty Cottier in Fremont. They shared 49 years of marriage until her passing on December 23, 1995. Prior to their marriage, he was drafted and served our Country on D-Day and during
WWII, stationed in Europe and the Mediterranean, as a Naval Bomb Recovery Tech, known as one of the first Navy "Frogmen." Ike worked for the former Ohio Power (AEP) as a lineman, retiring in 1987. He remained very active in his retirement. Ike enjoyed crafts; weaving and woodworking, making furniture and clocks. He was a member of the Fremont
VFW, liked to travel and was known to walk ¾ mile every day. Surviving are children, Lyle Zyski, Martha (Mark LeJeune) Zyski, Donald Zyski, Nancy (Fredrick) Cleveland, and Edith (Craig) Stull; brother, Harvey Zyski; 9 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.In addition to his wife, he is preceded in death by his parents, siblings, Ezra Bower, Milan Zyski, Alden Zyski and Dale Zyski.Private memorial services will be held at a later date in Oakwood Cemetery.In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Heartland Hospice or The
