James Gary AlbertineMemphis, TNJames Gary Albertine, Sr, 91, died peacefully in Memphis on Tuesday, January 10th after a full and remarkable life. He was born on August 8, 1925, attended Christian Brothers High School and graduated college from
Tulane University in 1947. He served as a Naval Officer in the Pacific theater on the amphibious landing craft LST 339 during
World War II. In 1951 he married Janice Smith, with whom he raised four children in their 65 year marriage. His professional career in real estate began in 1948 as a licensed Realtor. At the time of his passing, he was the oldest active Realtor at 91 and the longest active Realtor in the Memphis area at 68 years. He left his fingerprints all over the Memphis and Shelby County area as a developer of some of our finest neighborhoods and builder of some of our most beautiful homes for nearly seven decades. His contagious laugh and his unceasing optimism served him well throughout his life. He loved his family, his friends, his work, tennis and he loved to exercise with his buddies at the University Club. He was also known to be the first and last on the dance floor whenever the band was playing. He is survived by his four children: Leslie Goodwin (Steve), Gary Albertine Jr (Anne, deceased), Jan Boucek (Greg), and Palmer Albertine (Kathy). He leaves 10 grandchildren: Alex Goodwin (Rela), J.G. Albertine (Logan), Brent Albertine, Tim Symons (Reem), Taylor Cline (Celeste), Will Boucek, Brooke Boucek, Peyton Boucek, Palmer Albertine, Jr (Lauren), Philip Albertine (Lauren), Preston Albertine, Adrienne Albertine. He also leaves behind 3 great grandchildren.Visitation will be on Friday, January 13th from 11:00-12:00 followed immediately by a memorial service at Independent Presbyterian Church at 4738 Walnut Grove Rd.
