ELIZABETHTOWN Janet Louise Anstine, 92, formerly of York, died on Saturday, July 19, 2014, at her home in the Masonic Village, Elizabethtown. She was the wife of Glenn Anstine, to whom she was married for 73 years. Louise was born on February 12, 1922, in Warrington Township, York County, to the late Howard R. March and Esther Jones March. She spent her early life with her parents and siblings in East Berlin, Pa. In 1930, she moved to West York with her sister Marion, to live with their uncle and aunt, Samuel and Fannie Gross. She graduated in 1940 from West York High School, where she met her husband. Glenn and Louise were married on June 14, 1941, in St. Matthews Lutheran Church in York. Glenn and Louise lived in Shrewsbury when first married, then moved to York, first living in an apartment on West Market Street, then in homes in Hillcroft, Strathcona Hills, and Wyntre Brooke. Louise's proudest achievement were her seven children and their families: Byron Anstine and his wife Jean of Newtown Square, Douglas Anstine of York, Jane Ruby and her husband Mike of York, Cynthia Stauch and her husband Fred of Indianapolis, Penny Spahr and her husband Kim of York, Holly Trout and her husband Dave of York, and Timothy Anstine of New Cumberland; 16 grandchildren: Amy Wiest, Jonathan Anstine, Byron Anstine II, Mindi Anstine, Hadli Daniels, Kristin Jones, Shauna Ruby, Jenifer Ruby, Nicolaus Stauch, Damien Stauch, Kristofor Stauch, Malorie Stauch, Hilary Chevaux, Douglas Trout, Derek Trout, and Adriane Trout; 25 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her three sisters: Marion Anderson of Flint, Michigan, Gladys Neiman of York, and Evelyn Bastardi of Mechanicsburg. Louise was predeceased by her infant daughter, Marsha Joy Anstine, and by her three brothers, Nelson, Howard and Charles March. Louise was a homemaker for many years, and retired in 1984 from Corestates Bank in York. She was Past Matron of Starlight Chapter No. 508 of the Eastern Star, and was recently recognized for her 60 years of membership in the Eastern Star. She loved family gatherings, dining out and traveling with friends, shopping, banana splits, and chocolate. The family would like to thank the staff and volunteers at the Masonic Village for the wonderful care they gave Louise. Louise survived for 20 years following her
breast cancer diagnosis in 1994. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to the , P.O. A memorial service with Eastern Star rites will be held at the convenience of the family.
