Hansut. 1927-2017.Janice passed away peacefully with her son by her side at Vassar Brothers Hospital on October 23, 2017.Janice was born on June 20, 1927 in Poughkeepsie, N.Y to the late Selwyn and Helena Lozier. She graduated from Roosevelt High School.On April 24, 1957 she married the "Love of her Life" Robert Hansut in Poughkeepsie.Janice was predeceased by her husband Robert, her brother Selwyn Lozier, and her son Kevin. She is survived by her son Paul and his wife Gina of Highland, her daughter in law Debbie of Florida, her sister in laws Marie Lozier of Florida, Frances Slanina of South Dakota, her nephews Tom and Larry Lozier of Florida. Janice was a loving, caring, generous and compassionate Grandma, Great-grandma and grandma"jin" to her cherished little angels, Tiffani and her husband Josh Shear, Megan, Paulie, Camryn, Brynn, Kaylee and Lorenzo.Janice also had a very special friendship with Annie Pampinella-Stokes who was always there to give assistance and keep an eye on her.Janice worked for Dr. Lipton's Office on Clover St. in Poughkeepsie for many years where she was affectionally known as the "Lollipop Lady" by all the local children. Many children even when not sick would stop by for her kindness and a lollipop.Janice, after leaving the doctor's office, became the traditional stay at home mom to her son's Kevin and Paul. She was the mediator and negotiator for the family- always there to solve any problem whether big or small with a hug, a kiss, or special words of encouragement. She was the driver to and from sporting events or school activities. The financial planner and co-pilot for Bob when the family went on trips, not always to his pleasure or approval.She enjoyed the times she watched her grandchildren and their trips to Toys R Us or Wal-Mart, and to spoil them with gifts.Janice adored her life-mate Bobby and the 55 years they spent together. Whether it was their annual trip to Auger Lake for vacation, a bus trip, or their drives to visit family in Florida. Janice enjoyed spending time volunteering in her community. She was very active in the Highland PTA when her boys were in school, Highland Little League, a founding member of the Highland Woman's Republican Committee, the Highland Republican Committee, St. Augustine Bazaar, the Highland Rotary Ribfest, an inspector for the Board of Elections, and probably her favorite- annual judge at the Halloween parade. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday October 26th at St. Augustine's Roman Catholic Church in Highland N.Y. at 11:30 am.
