Dr. Jerry E. ChaneyMONTEZUMA, GA: Dr. Jerry Chaney, 73, was called home to the Lord on the afternoon of Friday, February 10, 2017.Dr. Chaney was born on May 20, 1943 in Chillicothe, Ohio. At the age of 16, he fully dedicated himself to the Lord and began preaching. He continued to preach during college while earning eight degrees: G.Th., B.A., M.A., TH.B., D.D., D.B., LITT D., and Ph D. Dr. Chaney pastored his first church at the age of 21. He pastored churches for twenty-six years, has operated a day care, a Christian School, and has taught at a college.He also served on various missions and college boards. Dr. Chaney was instrumental in founding two mission boards including, Jerry Chaney Ministries, where he served as president and Summit Baptist Bible College where he served as vice-president. He was also founder and President of the Chaney Institute for Christian Development and president of Chaney Publications. Dr. Chaney was the author of more than 40 books and other helps, plus tapes, videos, and DVD's of his messages. They are used in churches and schools in various countries around the world. Dr. Chaney was speaker on the "Victory Way" radio broadcast on a daily basis for many years, and was on television in several states.Dr. Chaney was a missionary evangelist, ministering in many smaller Baptist churches in America who need help. Dr. Chaney ministered in several Foreign Countries and in over 50 churches a year covering 12 to 14 states. He was called a "Revivalist" by some because of his desire to build up the local church and to encourage the pastor. Dr. Chaney was referred to as the "Gentleman Preacher" because of his desire to lift up and magnify the Lord Jesus. He was also referred to as one of the "premier preachers" in America today. Dr. Chaney was listed in Who's Who in Religion.His parents, Clark and Ardith King Chaney, preceded him in death.His memory will forever be treasured by his loving wife, Loretta Sue Chaney and sons, James Chaney and Christopher Todd Chaney, all of Montezuma; five grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; sisters, Janet Kaufman, Teresa Kay Chaney, and Crystal Ball, all of Lebanon, Ohio; brother, Marvin Chaney (Sharon) of Henley, Missouri; and a host of adoring nieces, nephews, and extended family.The family will receive friends at McCullough Funeral Home on Thursday, February 16th from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 18th at Shady Glen CCCU in Chillicothe, Ohio with visitation beginning at 11:00 a.m. Afterwards, Dr. Chaney will be laid to rest in Twin Township Cemetery, Chillicothe, Ohio.The family will accept flowers or donations may be given in memory of Dr. Chaney to Chaney Ministries, 409 Doe Run, Montezuma, GA 31063.Please go to
