John DeeringJohn A. "Red" Deering, 60, of Fairview Heights, Ill., born on May 5, 1956 in East St. Louis, Ill., died on Monday, Nov. 28, 2016 at St. Elizabeth's Hospital, Belleville, Ill. John worked as a machine operator at American Steel in Granite City, Ill., for 38 years. He was a member of the United Steel Workers Union USW Local 1064. John was an avid hunter and fisherman and a member of Ducks Unlimited. He was preceded in death by his parents, Michael F. and Frances J., nee Golec, Deering; and his brother, Michael I. Deering.Surviving are his longtime girlfriend, Sharmin Clifton; sister, Geraldine (Bob) Wildermuth of Fairview Heights, Ill.; sister-in-law, Sue Deering of North Carolina; nieces and nephews, Michele (Karl) Sturm, Robert (Kathy) Wildermuth Jr., Gerald (Stacy) Wildermuth, and Pam (Eddie) Warren; great-nieces and great-nephews, Danielle, Britany, and Anna Wildermuth, John and Matthew Wildermuth and Brandon, Forrest and Autumn Warren; and his beloved dog, Libby.
