Wanta, JohnJohn "Kuba" Wanta 81 of Weston passed away peacefully at his home on December 6, 2016. John was born on January 31, 1935 in Bevent, WI to Peter & Bertha (Cherek) Wanta. He married Agnes Gruna on June 4, 1960 and they raised their family in Weston, WI. John will be greatly missed by his wife Agnes of 56 years and his four daughters: Maxine (Mike) Folz, Paulette (Jim) Domask, Janet (Bob) Schmitz, Mary Jo (John) Kolbeck, eight grandchildren; Matt ( Jen) Folz, Alex (Nina Christianson) Folz, Vicki Domask, Miranda Domask, Kyle (Maegge Moravec) Schmitz, Adam Schmitz, Josh Kolbeck, Jacob Kolbeck, two great grandchildren; Aiden and Addison, brothers; Daniel Wanta and Kelly (Adeline) Wanta, sister-in-law's; Evelyn Wierzba, Sadie Gruna, brother-in-law's; Jim Gruna, Harry (Terry) Gruna, August (Grace) Gruna, Roman (Barb) Gruna and numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, five sisters; Pauline, Theresa, Evelyn, Frances, Mary Ann, two brothers; Raymond and Adam.John enjoyed the family cabin at Willow River and spending time with his family hunting and fishing. Family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at Aspirus Family Phyisicans, Dr. Brian Smith for the wonderful care they gave John over the years and also to Aspirus Palliative and Hospice staff for their care. Services will be held at St. Therese Catholic Church on Saturday, December 10, 2016 with a Rosary at 8:30 a.m. followed by visitation from 9 a.m. to the time of Mass of Christian burial at 11:00. Father Louis will be officiating with Father Janusz as concelebrant. Private burial will be held at Restlawn Cemetery. John J. Buettgen Funeral Home is assisting family at this time.
