John William McElroyPowell, TNJohn William McElroy – age 75 of Powell passed away Monday, September 4, 2017, at Fort Sanders Regional Medical Center. He was born on May 5, 1942 to the late James and Helen Bayless McElroy. Charter Member and Deacon of The Church at Sterchi Hills. He served in the US Army National Guard. Retired from Penske Truck Leasing after 28 years of service as District Controller. John was loved by everyone. He is survived by his loving wife, Carolyn Davis McElroy; children, Laura Sayers and husband Roger, Keith McElroy and wife Joy; grandchildren, Bryce Edwards, Bailey Edwards, Angela (Michael) Jones, and Amanda Sayers; great grandson, Wyatt Jones; brothers, Jim (Mary) McElroy, Ken (Eleanor) McElroy of North Carolina; sisters, Irene Hayes and Jessie Lucas; several nieces and nephews; and many wonderful friends. Celebration of Life service will be 7:00 PM Thursday, September 7, 2017, at The Church at Sterchi Hills with Rev. Mike Thompson and Rev. Joel Dew officiating. Family and friends will meet 10:45 AM Friday at Glenwood Baptist Cemetery for an 11:00 AM interment. Honorary pallbearers: Faithful Men's Class and Deacons.
