Joseph L. Schwaiger1928 - 2014Joseph L. Schwaiger, 85, of Kenosha passed away peacefully Thursday, Jan. 23, 2014, at United Hospital System-St. Catherines in Pleasant Prairie. He was born on Nov. 15, 1928, in Kenosha, the son of the late Hugh and Gertrude (Willems) Schwaiger. He was a lifelong resident of Kenosha and educated in local schools.On Oct. 21, 1950, he married Joyce P. Krumpos at St. James Catholic Church.Joe served in the National Guard from 1947 until 1953. He was employed by American Motors/Chrysler Corp. for over 29 years until his retirement in March of 1991.He was a member of St. Marks Catholic Church; and enjoyed woodworking, especially making clocks.Surviving are his wife, Joyce Schwaiger of Kenosha; four daughters, Theresa Schwaiger of Kenosha; Barbara (Bill) Bahr of Madison, Wis.; Nancy Schwaiger of Kenosha; Mary Schwaiger of Kenosha; one sister, Marcella Sally Esser of Kenosha; two grandchildren, Christine (Kurt) Kelling and Katie Bahr both of Madison, Wis.; Also surviving are his sisters-in-law, May Schwaiger and Cathy Schwaiger of Kenosha and a brother-in-law, Leo Valentine of California, along with many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by four brothers; Clarence, Leo, Richard and Francis; and five sisters; Sr. Mary Hugh, Leona Glerum, Rita Smith, Colette Martin and Gertrude Valentine. The family would like extend a special Thank You to Dr.s Janet Chua, Dr. Peter Mariani and the entire staff of St. Catherines Hospital for the wonderful care given to Joe. A visitation will be held on Sunday, Jan. 26 from 2 p.m. until 4 p.m. at Proko Funeral Home. Friends and relatives are asked to meet at St. Marks Catholic Church, 7117-14th Ave., on Monday, Jan. 27 for a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. Interment at St. James Cemetery will be private. In lieu of flowers memorials to St. Marks Catholic Church or St. Colettas School in Jefferson,WI.
