Kalief Browder was explained to be a great kid, and always wlling to help someone and was a very happy person. At 16, instead o worrying about school events or spending time with his friends, Kalief Browder was dealing with something far more traumatic: imprisonment on Rikers Island for a theft charge he denied many times. Even though the charge was dismissed, he endured three years in prison awaiting a trial that never took place. Roughly two of those years were spent in solitary confinement, and the time Browder spent among others was riddled with violence from guards as well as other inmates.
On June 6, 2015, two years after his release, he took his own life due to the previous conditions he was in and never fully recovered back to is normal self.
