FREMONT — Larry G. Ort, age 72, of Fremont, Indiana, passed away at his home on Thursday, October 9, 2014. Larry was born on March 25, 1942, in Defiance, Ohio, to Gerald Victor and Dora Marie Ort. They preceded him in death. He married Marlene K. English on August 3, 1974, at Lake George Lutheran Church, Fremont, Indiana. Larry retired from General Motors Central Foundry in Defiance, Ohio. after 25 years of service. He was a member of Lake George Lutheran Church of Fremont, Indiana, and was a former member of Zion Lutheran Church in Defiance, Ohio. Larry served the United States Army from 1964 until 1966. He enjoyed camping, boating, and fishing and his grandchildren. Survivors include, his wife Marlene Ort of Fremont, Indiana; four stepchildren, Todd Simons of Fremont, Indiana, Lisa and Scott Hough of Fremont, Indiana, Kendra and Gary Diehl of Fremont, Indiana, and Michelle Simons of Angola, Indiana; 13 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Hazel Smith of Defiance, Ohio. He was also preceded in death by a half brother, Billy Relyea. Calling hours will be held from noon until 2 p.m. Tuesday, October 14, 2014, at Beams Funeral Home, Fremont, Indiana. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, October 14, 2014, at Beams Funeral Home, with the Rev. Jeffrey G. Springer officiating. Burial will be at Jamestown Cemetery of Fremont, Indiana, with military committal services conducted by members of the Fremont American Legion Cassel Post 257.
