Lattie Jones was born to Annie and Robert Williams on December 1st, 1927 in Mobile, Alabama. At the age of 13 Lattie dedicated her life to the Lord and became a choir director in her hometown church, New Pilgrim Rest Missionary Baptist Church in Mobile, Alabama.
In 1947 Lattie met the love of her life, Herbert Jones and they married in Mississippi 3 weeks later. They moved to Detroit, Michigan shortly after. Their union produced 4 children including 3 sons; Herbert Jr, Ernest and Albert; 1 daughter, Lanette Jones-Andrews. Herbert Sr preceded her in death. Lattie dedicated her life as a healthcare professional working for over 20 years at St. Martin Deports nursing home in Detroit, Michigan. In her later days, Lattie dedicated herself to caring for her daughter who suffers from Multiple Sclerosis
Lattie would later join Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church where she was a dedicated member
Lattie lived a full and purposeful life always volunteering at her church. All those who came in contact with her sweet and caring nature remembers her as someone who was always willing to help with anything and everyone who needed her. Lattie passed away peacefully in her sleep on December 18th. On this day we gained an angel.
Lattie leaves behind one daughter, Lanette Jones-Andrews; 4 grandchildren, Jamila Johnson, Herbert Jones, Anthony Wayne Jones, Gregory Jones and Christopher Jones; along with a host of great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Lattie will be surely missed.
